🌕 Shisui Notes – Episode 2
The Practice of Shisui — Returning to Stillness
Poem
Not light,
not sound,
but breath.
That alone is enough
for the world to begin settling into order.
Reflection
The journey toward Yu
cannot be traveled through thought alone.
Stillness must be felt
through the body.
This is the essence of Shisui.
A state in which external noise fades
and the inner flow begins to quietly align.
Sometimes it arrives like the fullness of a moonlit night.
Sometimes it comes with the pale light of morning.
Stillness appears wherever it is welcomed.
The Practice
Breath — Aligning
Open the window.
Feel the movement of the air.
Inhale deeply, pause for a moment, exhale slowly.
Within this repetition,
there is a moment when the waves of the heart grow calm.
Scent — Listening
Light incense.
Sandalwood, agarwood,
or simply a flower near your hand.
Its fragrance reveals where you are,
and who you are in this moment.
Light — Receiving
Light is not only what the eyes can see.
There is also the light carried by the many hands and hearts
that sustain our daily lives.
Those who work.
Those who raise.
Those who carry things forward.
Plants, microorganisms, wind, water, soil, fire.
Everything around us supports us quietly, without demand.
Receive that light deep within your chest.
Gratitude — Binding
Offer a silent “thank you.”
You need not speak aloud.
If your breath softens even slightly,
the practice is complete.
Closing
Shisui is not a ritual.
It is a small moment
to notice the light that supports your life.
Within that stillness,
the seed of Yu begins to sprout.
And among all lights,
the morning light nurtures it best.
If you continue this practice in the morning,
that habit itself has already become
a quiet experiment in beauty and living.
